Please Support ECLAA

Each $150 covers all of the costs of providing free emergency legal assistance to a low-income client and her family when facing a civil law crisis -- most often an imminent eviction from their home.

Pay with PayPal or a debit/credit card

Please donate to close a $52,000 ECLAA funding gap in 2018.

Option 1. Mail a check.

Please donate with a check payable to the Essex County Legal Aid Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Please mail the check to:

Essex County Legal Aid Association

Options 2 and 3. Donate online. Shop online.

Here are two easy ways to donate to ECLAA online:  Use this Network for Good link or use the PayPal DONATE NOW button above.

You can also support ECLAA any time you shop at Amazon -- by designating ECLAA in the AmazonSmile program as your nonprofit recipient of 0.5% of every dollar you spend on eligible items at Amazon:

Option 4. Donate securities.

For those of you who want to make a meaningful donation to ECLAA by transferring your appreciated stock or other securities, please reach out to Bob Adler at or at (908) 672-0738 to discuss how best to do so.  He can provide relevant routing and account numbers and will help facilitate such a donation.

Do you want to fund a specific project or service?

We are ready to discuss both unrestricted and restricted major grants.

ECLAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (FEIN 22-1487177) that relies on tax-deductible gifts and grants from grantmakers and from generous donors like you. To allow our office to be open five days/week through the end of 2018, we ask for your financial support of our current operations -- which needs $52,000 by year-end 2018.

If you are inspired by the idea of ECLAA providing full legal representation for tenants and want to focus your support on funding that new service, please talk with Bob Adler, our fundraising/development director at or at (908) 672-0738 about making such a restricted grant.

Are you interested in funding added legal staffing during ECLAA's regular office hours so that we can help more clients -- or in funding ECLAA work at another Essex County site that is meaningful to you?  Please reach out to either Yvette Gibbons at or Bob Adler at

Please contact Mr. Adler with any donation-related questions or suggestions.   Please do so whether:

  • you are with a law firm, a corporation, a foundation, or
  • you are simply a person who cares about the ability of low-income people to receive emergency legal advice and counsel.
